The VCAL Program

Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning

UYCH delivers Foundation, Intermediate and Senior Levels of VCAL, which are year 11 and 12 equivalents. VCAL is very much a ‘hands on’ program again focusing on applied learning through projects and community activities.

One of the major projects recently undertaken by current participants was building a huge barbeque and outdoor rotunda so they could enjoy social get-togethers on campus, and enjoy classes outdoors in fine weather.

Another activity involves a photography project in which students show what is important to them in their community. This project was displayed at the recent opening of the Mechanics Institute in Warburton.

VCAL students also study Literacy, Numeracy, Personal Development, Work Related Skills and Industry Specific Skills, as well as undertaking Vocational Education Training in Hospitality, Automotive, Horticulture or Business Studies.
