The Oonah Pathways Program

Oonah Pathways is a program specifically for indigenous young people. Students study the Certificate of General Education for Adults or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning which are year 8-12 equivalents

The success of Oonah Pathways is due to the supportive partnership with the Local Aboriginal Educational Consultative Group (LAECG). This program is based on Cultural Learning with significant involvement from the indigenous community.

As Oonah Pathways is based on applied learning or ‘hands-on’ activities students get to participate in many excursions involving sourcing ochre, working in a community garden, movie making, environment, cooking, peer mentor programs and camps.

Oonah Students

Students also study Literacy, Numeracy, Work Skills and Current Affairs. It is important that the learning be culturally specific and promotes Healthy Living.
