Youth Education

UYCH delivers a number of programs that are specific to Youth. If you are looking for a supportive environment to complete year 7-12 in equivalent programs in Certificate of General Education for Adults, as well as the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning, then the UYCH can help.

All UYCH Youth Education & Training programs have a strong focus on applied learning and life skills and are delivered within a supportive learning environment.

One day per week all participants in Youth Education & Training programs come together to share and enjoy gender specific learning activities supported by community peer mentors.

Youth Education and Training programs include:

Upper Yarra Community House support and promote the principles and practice of Australian democracy through our commitment to:

-the rule of law

-equal rights for all before the law

-freedom of religion

UYCH encourage all students, parents, and community to access the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) website to gather information about choosing a VCAL program. This website also contains information about VCAL, what counts towards VCAL, where it can take you and gives case studies of past students. This information can support your decision when choosing to participate in the VCAL at Upper Yarra Community House. UYCH congratulates St Joseph’s School on their 50th anniversary as an educational provider in the Upper Yarra.
UYCH provides education and training for young people at the Cerini Centre in Warburton, the original site of St Joseph’s School.  Our programs provide a learning environment that is different to mainstream school, a space where classes are small with a much higher ratio of teaching staff in the classrooms. UYCH believes that some young people learn better by doing things and by working things out for themselves with the help of teachers.  Our programs give young people time, space, patience and mentoring, and the recognition that all young people are different and have different learning needs.  UYCH students achieve the same educational levels as other students; we just go about it in a different way.

UYCH strives to share the vision of Father Cerini by providing education to the children of our community.
For further course information call the Cerini Centre 03 59662366 or 59671776.
